Chih Peng Fan of National Chung Hsing University coauthored a 2025 study on hand gestures for rehabilitation exergames with MGM's Komang Candra Brata.

A 2025 paper on rehabilitation video games carries a coauthor list that stretches from Malang to Taichung. Among the six names is Chih Peng Fan, a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan, working alongside MGM's Komang Candra Brata.
The paper, "An Investigation of Hand Gestures for Controlling Video Games in a Rehabilitation Exergame System," published in January 2025, looked for hand gestures that patients in physical rehabilitation could perform comfortably while playing a video game built around hand tracking software rather than a physical controller. The team tested a pool of 32 possible gestures, weighing how easy each one was to learn and repeat, and settled on 10 judged easiest to use for people recovering from injury or limited mobility. The experiment's participants were 16 students at Universitas Andalas in Padang, a separate relationship from Fan's coauthorship and covered on its own elsewhere on this site.
Fan has spent more than two decades on the electrical engineering faculty at National Chung Hsing University, working on digital image processing, pattern recognition, and embedded system design, the kind of background that fits naturally with a project tracking hand movement through a camera. His role on this paper is a real research coauthorship rather than an institutional agreement between two universities. Nothing in the paper suggests National Chung Hsing University itself holds any formal tie to MGM beyond Fan's individual contribution to this one study alongside Komang Candra Brata.

It is a small, specific kind of connection: one researcher, one paper, one shared interest in helping rehabilitation patients play games with gestures their bodies can actually manage. That is worth stating plainly, in its true modest scale, rather than inflating it into something it was never meant to be.
