On May 20, 2022, Lab MGM at Fakultas Ilmu Komputer, Universitas Brawijaya held the third session of its Webinar Series on Interaction Design, a guest lecture program built around FILKOM alumni working in industry, with Fathin Naufal Hawi, Lead UI/UX Developer at Mister Aladin, as one of two guest speakers.

Hawi, a 2013 graduate of FILKOM's Information Systems program, joined Dara Adhelia, a UI Designer at Blibli, for a session titled UX Design: Emotional Design, moderated by faculty member Agi Putra Kharisma. Roughly 70 students attended the online talk, the smallest audience of the three 2022 sessions with confirmed attendance figures, in which both speakers discussed how emotion shapes the way people experience digital products.

What the Session Covered

Hawi took part as an invited alumnus with relevant industry experience, not as a representative of any partnership between Mister Aladin and Lab MGM. Mister Aladin is an Indonesian travel and hotel booking platform, and his work there centers on the interfaces travelers use to search for and book places to stay. In the session, he and Adhelia discussed how attractive, well considered design creates positive emotional responses in users, and how that emotional layer shapes whether people keep using a product.

For a booking platform, that might mean the difference between a traveler feeling reassured while confirming a room and one who abandons the process out of doubt. The talk gave FILKOM students a practical view of UI and UX development inside a travel technology company, where trust and reassurance carry real weight.

The session closed out the middle stretch of a four session series that Lab MGM ran through most of 2022, following earlier talks from speakers at Tokopedia, tiket.com, Blibli, and Mekari. Each guest, Hawi included, was invited individually as a working professional and alumnus, not as part of any lasting arrangement between Mister Aladin and Lab MGM.
