Across its 2022 Webinar Series on Interaction Design, a guest lecture program built around FILKOM alumni working in industry, Lab MGM at Fakultas Ilmu Komputer, Universitas Brawijaya invited two different guest speakers from Blibli, an Indonesian e-commerce platform, into two separate sessions held months apart.

The first was Vivy Junita, a Product Manager at Blibli and a 2016 graduate of FILKOM's Informatics Engineering program, who joined the series' second session on March 11, 2022. Speaking alongside Verrel Radiman, then a UX Researcher at Mekari, Junita told the roughly 90 attending students that user experience extends beyond visual design into company strategy, playing a role in business outcomes through product innovation.

A Second Session on Emotional Design

Blibli returned for the series' third session on May 20, 2022, represented by Dara Adhelia, a UI Designer at Blibli and a 2016 graduate of FILKOM's Information Systems program. Adhelia spoke alongside Fathin Naufal Hawi of Mister Aladin on emotional design, telling around 70 student participants that emotion is a form of feeling that shapes how people experience a product, and that attractive design can create the positive response that keeps users engaged.

Both appearances were individual guest lecture invitations. Junita and Adhelia shared their own professional experience as FILKOM alumnae, the same way any invited speaker would, rather than acting on behalf of any agreement between Blibli and Lab MGM.

Having two people from the same company speak months apart, on different themes, gave FILKOM students two distinct views of UX work inside a large online retail platform, one centered on strategy, the other on the emotional detail of everyday interface design. The two sessions sat inside a wider four part series that also brought in speakers from Tokopedia, tiket.com, and Mister Aladin over the course of the year, each invited individually rather than through any lasting arrangement with their employer.
