A 37 person delegation from Surabaya explored Lab MGM's research up close, though the visit produced networking rather than a signed agreement.

In May 2026, a group of 37 visitors from Surabaya spent time walking through FILKOM's laboratories, including the one behind much of the faculty's mobile and game related research.
The delegation came from the Faculty of Computer Science at Universitas Narotama Surabaya, and FILKOM UB hosted them for a program that included presentations on the faculty's flagship initiatives and a tour of several research laboratories. Lab MGM, short for Media, Game and Mobile Technology, was one of the labs the visitors explored directly, looking at the kind of research and student projects the group produces, work that over the years has touched on mobile applications, assistive technology, and location based systems, among other areas.
FILKOM UB described the event as a way to strengthen academic networking and collaboration between the two institutions. No MGM specific agreement, memorandum of understanding, or joint project was reported to have come out of the visit itself. Visits like this are a routine part of how Indonesian universities build relationships with each other, giving a delegation a close look at labs, facilities, and research output well before any formal cooperation is discussed, if it ends up being discussed at all. For Lab MGM, hosting a delegation of this size is a way of putting its work in front of another institution, even when no concrete partnership follows right away.

Whether this particular visit leads to a future joint project between Universitas Narotama and FILKOM UB, or with Lab MGM specifically, is not yet known and nothing of that kind has been announced. What is documented is the visit itself: a sizeable delegation, a faculty wide presentation, and a direct look inside Lab MGM's work, all framed by FILKOM as relationship building rather than as the signing of any agreement.
